Great place to see butterflies up close that gave been pretty acclimated to people. Don't try to touch them, but don't be surprised if they land on you. One hitched a ride on my back for my entire stay! Once you go up the stairs, there's a learning area with stations to learn about different insects and see some in clear cases, but skip that for now and go after you've seen the butterflies, especially if you've arrived early. Go early so you can take a leisurely time and enjoy the butterflies.
Always a good experience here. Who doesn't love to walk around in a beautiful garden and look at the hundreds of butterflies flying around? Worth the price of admission and great place to catch some nice photos if you'd like. Love bringing my out of town friends and family here for their first visit. It never disappoints and is always stunning no matter how many times I've been.
One of The Top 10 places in Houston; and, the most natural heaven on earth "In This Town." The Beauty, Freedom, & Diversity of all these Butterflies in close proximity to people brings delight to children, families, couples, & adults. 15 minutes to an hour in there is a therapy in itself. Note: a bit warm in direct sunlight & humid; BUT, air-conditioning vents.
Just beautiful!! I could spend all day here, seriously! While my husband and I were there during our last trip we witnessed 4 butterflies coming out of their cocoons and the staff were taking them out to the Butterfly Center where they can live and be loved by all who come visit. So magical, it's my favorite.
The walk-through museum is super cool. There’s so much information about butterflies, insects, arachnids, and everything in between. They have really cool displays, as well, including a live casing of butterflies and moths during their chrysalis stage. The exhibit itself is beautiful. It was interesting seeing all sorts of butterfly species in action fluttering about. What put me off was the workers. The exhibit is extremely hot and humid since there’s lots of vegetation inside for the butterflies to nest/feed. There’s not a lot of space in the walkways, as well, so it was extremely crowded, and at times, hard to breathe. I temporarily pulled my mask down when I had some space to catch my breath and get some air. Five seconds later, one of the workers was following in close proximity, telling me to put my mask back up. As several other reviews stated, it really did feel like we were cattle—the workers will circle the exhibit and watch everyone like hawks, all for mask regulation.
